| July 9, 2009 - The Board approved an auction to be held from time to time during our weekly meetings this year to benefit the Rotary Foundation. Here's how it works: Members bring a donated item to the weekly meeting on a rotating basis (as scheduled), in a price range usually between $20 to $50, more or less. Prizes could be something a Rotarian wants to be rid of (but in new condition), something purchased or something he or she can get for free from a company or someone else, (e.g., free dentist cleaning, free will from a lawyer, free lunch from a restaurant, free tickets for a sporting event, etc.) The highest bidder gets the prize but, in addition, the bid $ amount paid will be credited to his or her Foundation account! This is a great way to become a Sustaining Member ($100 every year) and to progress toward becoming a Paul Harris fellow or your next Paul Harris level ($1,000 contribution increments). If the highest bidder is a non-Rotarian or a Rotarian from another club, he or she can choose the Rotarian in our club to whose Foundation account the prize $ amount will be credited. We already have our first donation and will plan to auction it at our meeting next week! If you would like to donate something for future meetings, please contact me and I will get you on the schedule. We have enough members so that each member should only need to donate one item per year. What a great and fun way to support the good work of Rotary! -- if you want to become a Sustaining Member of the Rotary Foundation, all you have to do is to let me know and I will see to it that you are set up to be invoiced $25 on each of your quarterly Rotary Club invoices; our goal is to have 100% club participation as Sustaining Members as soon as possible; -- if you want to become a Paul Harris fellow immediately, I have the contribution forms, or you can go online to www.Rotary.org and make your contribution; our District is # 5810 and our Club is # 1816; your Member number is the number on the mailing label of your Rotary magazine that you receive every month; -- if you want to become a Benefactor ($1,000 gift in your Will or Codicil), I have the Will and Codicil forms." Support the Rotary Foundation, "to do good in the world!"
